Grants Awarded

2023 has got off to a brilliant start for us, as we have awarded six grants, of £500.00 each.

Following our online launch last July, and subsequent fundraising efforts, we have absolutely loved being able to make financial awards to students. Thanks to the incredible generosity of donations to all of our fundraising campaigns, we have been in the amazing position of being able to make these first awards, with a total award of £3,000.00.

During Autumn 2022 we made contact with and presented to six universities – telling them about Cam, showing them his work and outlining our mission for the charity and future initiatives for supporting and celebrating students. We have started to establish strong links and relationships with the six Universities in the East Midlands which offer BA (Hons) Graphic Design; the course that Cameron studied at the University of Lincoln.

Our partner Universities are therefore confirmed as;

  • De Montfort University

  • University of Derby

  • University of Lincoln

  • Loughborough University

  • Nottingham Trent University

  • University of Northampton

It has been the most wonderful privilege to partner with these Universities and we very much look forward to continuing to build and strengthen these relationships further. We have had the most amazing welcome and reception and it has been so inspiring and energising for us to both share Cameron’s story, and present our plans, hopes and intentions for the development of The CDCT.

We have been welcomed so warmly and enthusiastically; it really has been such a joy to partner with these Universities and launch our first grant round.

Each University was invited to nominate up to three students, who they believed would be eligible for a grant.  An independent scoring exercise was then undertaken by all nine trustees, so that a winning nomination could be identified – one from each University.

University tutors were asked to make the nominations, and write a statement about the nominee, forming the basis for the scoring exercise.  The criteria we were looking for related directly back to the attributes so highly commended in Cameron’s own study experiences.  We were keen to hear about students who show great commitment to their studies, are passionate about Graphic Design and advocate positively for the industry, continually strive to excel and develop themselves and would benefit from some financial support at this point in time.

The calibre of nominees was exceptional, with each one being a more than worthy recipient. Scoring was therefore a tough exercise (for all the best reasons). Winning students have committed to sharing some samples of their work with us; look out for more news of these in the coming weeks and months. Students will also join us in July, for our celebration event in Lincoln – again, we are excited to bring more news about that very soon.

Before we sign off for now; we thank each and every donor for the financial support that has made this possible. Awarding the grants has been absolutely wonderful and we are so excited about continuing to develop our relationships with our partner Universities and making further financial awards.

We will fully update our website soon, but in the mean time, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out about the first CDCT Grant recipients.
