Celebrating Design 2023

On Saturday 15th July 2023, our inaugural celebration of The CDCT celebrated a year of the charity, Cam’s 23rd birthday and above all the students we have supported through our Grants and Roulette competition. It was a great success, thank you so much to everyone who came along and supported us!

Over 130 people joined us at Towers bar at the University of Lincoln, where we ate pizza, raised a glass to Cam, ate birthday cake from Marmadukes, and enjoyed music from The AirWaves, cartoons from caricaturist Andrew Geeson, and a selfie pod from Picture Blast. It was amazing for everyone to meet the students we have supported through The CDCT Grants and showcased through Roulette, alongside some of the university tutors from across the East Midlands. Additional thanks to everyone who generously donated raffle prizes and to those who bought tickets, to Towers for their hospitality, and for the publicity on ITV Calendar News over the weekend.

We were so excited to announce Harry as the winner of Roulette 2023, and Ruby and Rhiannon as runners-up, alongside revealing more about Roulette 2024, which we hope to share on our website and socials soon.

The feedback we have had about The CDCT, Cam and the night itself has been incredible (see below for a selection), and we are so touched by people’s offers of support to help the charity continue to grow.

We look forward to seeing you at Celebrating Design 2024!

  • Thank you so much for inviting me, it was such a great evening and really nice to meet some of this year's grads. Massively, massively impressed with everything The CDCT is achieving and really excited to see the next chapter and offer my support.

  • What a wonderful celebration Saturday evening was. It really did mean a lot to join everyone in Lincoln to toast Cameron's Birthday and celebrate the work of the student Grant and Roulette winners, honouring Cameron's memory. Listening to the speeches especially gave us all a sense of unity in all that Cameron stood for as a talented designer and a giving peer. We are looking forward to our students working on Roulette 2024!

  • It was a great honour and privilege to be announced as the winner of Roulette, acknowledging and remembering the amazing achievements of Cam Day. It will be great to see how The CDCT continue to grow in the years to come, and continue his legacy.

  • Cam: we had never met, but I have admired both you and your friends' work for years. Thank you for giving my peers and I the opportunity to follow in your footsteps for years to come. It was incredibly touching to see how loved and inspired everyone is by you!
