Molly Young

University of Derby
CDCT Grant Recipient 2023/24

Molly was nominated for a CDCT Grant for her Cam-do spirit, inspirational attitude and engagement to her studies. Her role as a Student Ambassador, tireless energy when supporting others and her personal growth were just some of the attributes recognised by her tutors and she deservedly received a Grant of £500 from The CDCT.

At the time of being awarded The CDCT Grant in January 24, Molly was a third year Graphic Design student studying at the University of Derby.

‘Molly can be found on many weekends and weekdays, representing the course on Open Days and visiting schools and colleges. She posts about her mental health journey to inspire others and the benefits of fitness on her wellbeing. She has also joined a discussion group on mental health, taken part in The Derby Future Award and World Mental Health Day, and recently was asked by Gymshark to speak at an internal conference in front of 500 staff. We are delighted for her to receive this award so that she can concentrate on her own needs without financial worries as the course concludes.’
Leo Broadley, Senior Lecturer & Kevin Jones, Lecturer

‘Always remember how far you’ve come! This is the girl who couldn’t go to school because she was too anxious, to now speaking on a panel at a conference amongst some real inspirational people! I was super out of my comfort zone, but I did it and received the best feedback.’

We are proud to champion Molly’s Cam-do spirit. Molly is excited to apply for internships further afield and broaden her opportunities after she has completed her studies, and the Grant will be invaluable in helping to support her in potentially moving areas to pursue her dreams.
