This outcome looks at false information circulating around society, mirroring the build up of misinformation and certain beliefs spiralling out of control. Nowadays society is more vulnerable to subconsciously taking in these fake conspiracies, due to the heightened presence of social media and others opinions being more accessible.
The editorial piece depicts a false narrative about 5G causing Coronavirus, showing the small pieces of misinformation from various parts of our lives growing building on top of one another. It demonstrates how widespread beliefs are not always true, despite the quantity of information and is accompanied by a campaign asking viewers to do research into everything they read and hear, rather than taking everything at face value. The starting point looked at the concept of group-think, and how from one phrase, misinformation grows and spirals to the point where people begin to believe it, based on the quantity of the information, rather than the validity of the sources. This information is heard through echo chambers, which only amplify and reinforce beliefs, not highlighting alternative ways of approaching the subject.
